Built to be consistent

The same great coffee every time is the whole point. Here is how we do it.

The roaster and sacks of green coffee inside the Bridge Street roastery
The roaster at Bridge Street, in plain sight.

We built our own roaster

Custom built from the beginning.

We wanted something original that would do exactly what we wanted, so we designed and built our own roasting equipment from the ground up. There is no such thing as good enough, and we are not willing to live with compromise.

The roaster we use now is one Dan has modified so much it is barely recognisable as the machine it started as. From building roasters from scratch to hot-rodding our favourite old machines, we know what we have to achieve.

Every step, checked

From sourcing to packing, we make sure quality is never compromised.

  1. Sourcing

Green coffee from growers we can stand behind, from a Fair Trade Organic blend to Brazilian and Papua New Guinea single origins.

  2. Roasting

Small batches on our own kit, in full view at the Bridge Street roastery.

  3. Packing

Packed in compostable bags. See how they compost.

  4. Quality control

Checked at every stage, because the next cup should be as good as the last.

Ethical from the grower up

We are committed to ethical coffee relationships: if it is good for you, us and the grower, we are in. Our Fair Trade Organic blend uses traditional organic origins from Africa and the Pacific, grown by small co-op farmers.

Our Swiss Water Decaf is decaffeinated with water only, so it keeps its own character and needs no chemicals.

The same cup in every cafe

Consistent quality does not stop at our door. A dedicated trainer travels the country to keep it that way, and every cafe we supply gets a tailored package of coffee, equipment, training and maintenance.
