Custom-built coffee, batch roasted in Nelson, ground the way you brew it.

Dan's idea was simple: coffee roasting belongs close to the community, not hidden in a factory. In a converted living room on Haven Road, with a roaster fixed to the inside wall, people walking past slowed down for the smell, wandered in, ordered a flat white and stayed to watch the roast.
Emma was teaching full time and working weekends as a barista to keep the lights on. Their kids took orders from behind a counter they could barely see over. Twenty-one years later it is still a family business, and the roaster is still where you can see it.
Same vibes. That is Sublime.

Dan built the first roaster and has kept modifying the one we use now. It sits in the middle of Nelson where anyone can watch it work.

From green bean to packed bag, so quality is never compromised.
The bag, the valve and the inks are all compostable.
Consistency is the whole point. It is why we built our own roaster, and why we train the cafes that pour it.

Compostable bags, cups that really do get composted, and sacks, husks and grinds that get a second life.
About 5,000 cups and lids a month kept out of landfill.
It took 18 months of trials to find a system that works. Our crew and customers make it happen.
Most of what we roast goes to cafes. We supply them from Nelson to Auckland with coffee, equipment, training and servicing.
The roaster lives inside the Bridge Street cafe. Walk in, order a flat white and see where it comes from.
